“South by South Bronx Hip Hop Festival (SXSBX)”  is a cultural festival celebrating Hip Hop and its role in facilitating social change- both past and present. This event promises to be RDAC's largest, most important event of the year. During two days, it will bring together over two thousand community members- families, youth, educators, artists and activists- to participate in workshops, conversations, networking, and enjoy performances by Bronx Hip Hop pioneers and new talent.

From Beat Street to These Streets: Hip Hop Then and Now
















































The Beat Street film was celebrated and shown at Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture Saturday, October 20. Beat Street featured the New York City hip hop culture of the early 1980s; breakdancing, DJing, and graffiti. A panel discussion followed the film which included Harry Belafonte, DJ Kool Herc, Martha Diaz (community organizer, media producer, curator, and hip hop archivist), Vee Bravo (Education Director at TFI), Melly Mel, Lisa Cortes (Precious) and more!

Party on the River!



















































RDACBX was invited to Rock at Roberto Clemente State Park just minutes away from where Hip-Hop started the legendary "Sedgwick Avenue" in the South Bronx! The Harlem River Working Group (HRWG) through a party for the Harlem River Park Community inviting park advocates, environmental organizations, community organizations to come out and enjoy a cool Saturday in the park.
